Abstract

490,907. Priming centrifugal and screw pumps. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES DE CHARLEROI. Feb. 15, 1938, No. 4695. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1937. [Class 110 (i)] A multistage centrifugal or screw pump is primed by an emulsifying device drawing air from the impeller of an initial or intermediate stage and delivering the emulsion to the final impeller. The suction pipe either has a non- return valve or is constructed as a siphon 18 and delivers to the first impeller 1. The main discharge pipe 4 has a spring or weight actuated valve 9 leading to a byepass 7 and emulsifier 8 connected between the outlet of impeller 1 and inlet of impeller 6. The emulsifying device may be that described in Specification 404,473.
