489,675. Automatic catches. WALES, Ltd., and ADIE, B. Feb. 6, 1937, No. 3563. [Class 44] A fastening for the sides of drop-side cots comprises a base 7, for attachment to the corner pillar 9 of the cot, having a slotted plate 7b in parallel relationship and a catch 11, pivoted at 10 between the plates 7, 7b formed by two parallel parts joined by a channel-like portion, one of said parts having a hooklike portion adapted normally to lie across the slot 7c. When the side of the cot is raised, a horizontally projecting pin encounters the cam edge 11d and displaces the catch 11 until the pin has entered the slot 7c when it strikes the curved part 11e, thus ensuring the return of the catch to its normal position. To release the drop-side, the catches are rotated by means of the finger-grips 11 f. The invention may be applied to cots in which the sides move vertically, in which case the fastening is applied with its slot disposed vertically. Specification 364,377 is referred to.
