[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In a multi-stage amplifier harmonic distortion in one stage is neutralized in the succeeding stage and the output impedance of the stages are modified so as to be similar. In one arrangement, in which the amplifier feeds a cable and the output stage is resistance- .coupled to the preceding stage, the output circuit is modified by arranging a condenser in parallel with the transformer secondary so that the impedance presented to the valve is practically resistive. Both the intervalve and output circuits may be modified to obtain similarity.
