Abstract
480,728. Road-vehicle spring-suspensions. SCHROTER, H., and SCHROTER, K. Aug. 31, 1936, No. 23842. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1935. [Class 108 (ii)] In a vehicle having front and rear axles the latter are connected to swing or rotate bodily about a central longitudinal axis and are interconnected by a non-resilient intermediate compensating member which is also connected to the chassis in such a manner that when the axles swing or rotate relatively to one another the chassis is positively held in an intermediate position. As shown the chassis 1 is rigidly connected by members 13 to a longitudinal bearer 2 upon which the front and rear axles 3, 4 are rotatably mounted by means of sleeves 11, 12. The latter are also interconnected by a double-armed lever 8 and ball-bearing pins 9, 10, the lever also being pivoted intermediately to the bearer 2 at 7. The wheels are sprung on the axles by means of springs 5, 6 and the sleeves 11, 12 are frictionally mounted on the bearer 2 by interposed layers of fibre, asbestos, &c. The front wheels are mounted at 14 for steering purposes and are connected to a draught pole 17 by links 15, 16. Other arrangements such as gear wheels may replace the lever 8.
