478,533. Chimney &c. tops. BUHRER, A., and WINOKUR, S. Nov. 2, 1936, No. 29788. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1935. [Class 25] A chimney or ventilating cowl comprises an uptake a surrounded by a hollow collar b with sloping upper and lower surfaces c, d, a cylinder k of larger diameter than the uptake spaced above the upper end thereof and an outer cylinder f having its upper end in the plane of the upper end of the cylinder k and forming with the cylinder k and collar b annular passages o, h which communicate with the diverging outlet p formed between the upper surface c of the collar and an inverted cone n closing the lower end of the cylinder k. The cylinder is closed at the top by a conical cap so as to form an insulating-air chamber which, together with the hollow collar b serves to prevent overheating of the cowl in hot weather. A lower rimmed edge l on the cylinder k facilitates draining.
