Abstract

473,486. Supplying pulp to paper-making machines. WALMSLEYS (BURY) Ltd., RANDELL, H. C., and LORD, H. April 15, 1936, No. 10799. [Class 96] In a machine for the manufacture of paper &c. of the type in which a dynamic head of stuff is maintained upon the usual distributing slice 6 feeding stuff to a wire cloth 7, by means of a booster pump 4, the pipe connection 5 between the pump 4 and slice 6 is provided with a pressure relief valve 10 so that the pump can be adjusted to feed slightly more material than is delivered from the slice and maintain a predetermined constant pressure.' Excess material flows back through pipe 12 to the stuff box 2. The screens 1 are fed by a pump 13, with pulp from a pipe 18, white water from a sump 15 and surplus from the stuff chest 2 from which pulp is pumped at 4 to the slice 6 and wire 7, e.g. through a pressure-equalizing chamber 8, and. branch pipes each controlled by a valve 19. The valve 10 in the delivery pipe 5 is loaded adjustably at 11. Specification 473,487 is referred to.
