Abstract

In the manufacture of articles from cast iron as described in the parent Specification, the castings contain 2,2-3,2 per cent of carbon, less than 0,15 of sulphur, less than 0,8 of silicon and an amount of manganese which is at least twice the silicon content but not greater than 2 per cent. The manganese content is preferably equal to at least the sum of twice the silicon content and three times the sulphur content.
