[Class 136 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] In change-speed chain gearing for bicycles &c. of the type comprising two or more sprockets a, b, c and a chain-shifting guide sprocket or roller d with a pivoted chain tensioning lever e provided with a sprocket or roller f, the tensioning of the chain h is limited in each gear position by means of spaced abutments k, l, m on a lever extension arm i, j, coacting with a pawl n pivoted at o to a fixed part of the cycle. The positions of the spaced abutments and of the pawl respectively may be reversed. During gear-changing, the pawl n is adapted to ride over the appropriate abutment and then move back to the stopped position.
