Abstract
463,363. Valves. HORSTMANN, F. O., and HORSTMANN GEAR CO., Ltd. June 15, 1936, No. 16621. [Class 135] In a screw-down or like positively engaged valve device, the valve member consists of a dished disc 1 (preferably of stainless steel) having projecting from its convex side a stem 2 removably fitting in the socket 3 of the barrel 4, the edge of the valve disc coacting with the seat 7 (preferably also of stainless steel to prevent electrolytic action) to spread radially thereover in closing. The seat 7 has a flange 9 for insertion in the passage 10, and may have on its upper face a flange or shroud with which the edge of the valve disc radially coacts to form an additional seal, Fig. 2 (not shown). The shroud is preferably slotted, and flared upwards internally. A coil spring or a springy dished disc may be interposed between the barrel and the valve disc, the springy dished disc bearing peripherally on the valve disc, Fig. 3 (not shown).
