462,707. Grinding-machines. KELLENBERGER, L., (trading as KELLENBERGER & CO., L.). April 7, 1936, No. 10210. Convention date, April 15, 1935. [Class 60] The horizontally oscillatable and vertically adjustable grinding head of a universal grinder completely encases the motor 19, which is arranged with its shaft parallel to the wheel spindle 23 which it drives. The driving members are completely protected from dust and a smoothly contoured exterior surface of the grinding head, allowing of easy cleaning, is obtained. In the construction shown, the head is carried by a pillar 8 vertically adjustable by means of a screwed shaft 11 passing through a nut 16 and rotated by a hand wheel 15. The nut is rotatably mounted on a transverse slide 5, and extends through a slot 17 in the side of the pillar 8, the pillar and nut thus turning together when the head is adjusted about the vertical axis. The motor drives the spindle 23 through a belt 21 and is enclosed by the casing 9 and a cap 24.
