462,060. Making foam. CACERES, J., WATSON, R., DURSTON, G. H., and DENNETT, G. A. Oct. 15, 1935, No. 28423. [Class 47 (ii)] A foam-producing device adapted to be fitted readily to a pump, for example a fireengine pump, comprises a short tube a having at one end a collar b to screw on to the pump intake, and at the other end a screw-thread c to receive the intake cover. A chamber d secured in an aperture in the tube has a large inlet e adapted to be connected to a source of water, and a nozzle h provided with a valve i. The nozzle casing is provided with axial or inclined air ports n, which may be valvecontrolled, and with a supply port o for foaming agent. A perforated baffle q is provided between the chamber d and tube a, and the nozzle may be tapered. When the pump is running, water, air, and foaming agent are drawn into, and mixed in, the chamber and tube, the pump completing the foam production. By closing the valve i, water alone may be pumped.
