Abstract

459,029. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and DANIELL, J. A., Birch Road, Witton, Birmingham. July 6, 1936, No. 18693. [Class 80 (ii)] A rubber ring 22 is frictionally gripped in radial compression between inner and outer shaft-members 19, 13, by drawing axially together, by means of bolts 17, frusto - conical rings 15 constituting the inner member. One of the rings 15 is bolted at 18 to the sleeve 19, which is welded to a motor vehicle propeller-shaft 21. The pressed-steel arcuate outer member 13 has axial depressions to increase its grip on the rubber ring, which has side grooves 23 and is moulded. A similar joint may be provided at the opposite end of the propellershaft.
