456,261. Copying-machines. DECKEL, F., (trading as DECKEL PRAZISIONSMECHANIK UND MASCHINENBAU, F.), 7, Waakirchnerstrasse, Munich, Germany. March 17, 1936, Nos. 8020 and 8021. Convention dates, April 2, 1935 and July 22, 1935. [Class 83 (iii)] [See also Groups XVI and XX] A pantographic engraving or copying apparatus comprises a pantograph system with a fixed fulcrum and two working points, one between the fulcrum and the other working point, and with a bar connected to one of the working points and engaged with a guide whereby it is held parallel with itself in all positions of the system, the bar being adapted to carry a tracer, or a tool, or several tools. The bar 8; Fig, 1, coupled to the inside joint 6 of the adjustable pantograph 2, 3, 4, 5 is slidably mounted on the cross-bar of a U-shaped bracket 9, the legs of which slide in guides 10. Two sockets 11 and 12 are carried by the bar 8. The socket 11 may carry a tool and the socket 12 a tool or tracer, so that, with the former arrangement and a tracer in the socket 17 two equal reduced copies may be made, and, with the latter arrangement a single equal-sized copy. Alternatively a tool may be placed in the socket 7 for enlarged copying. The joint 6 may be coupled to the bar 8 by clamp 14, Fig. 4, adjustable along a cross-bar 13 so that the work need not be moved if the scale of reproduction is altered. In a modification for relief engraving, the fixed pivot 1 and guides 10 are mounted in a holder 22, pivoted at 21 in the plane which contains the points of the tracer 7 and tool 24.
