285,959. Hancock, T. R., and Cuthbertson, J. Nov. 22, 1926. Dividing by fusion.-In a blowpipe apparatus for cutting metals of the kind comprising a carrier movable on a slide or way in a line parallel to the plane of the work and supporting a member which is movable on the carrier in a line at an angle to that of the movement of the carrier and carries a cutter head and tracer movable in relation to a template or drawing, the member is in the form of a straight horizontal or substantially horizontal rod carrying at one end the cutter head and at the other end the tracer. The blowpipe 22 and tracer member 23, preferably with driving motor, are respectively mounted over the work 5 and drawing or template 4 on a rod 18, which is formed of two parts 19, 20 connected together by screws 21 and is movable over guide rolls 17 in a carrier 14. The carrier is provided with side plates 12, 13 in which are mounted sets of rolls- 15, 16 movable on V-guides 8, 9 on a guideway 7. The guideway may be provided with slots with V-shaped edges. The rollers 15, 16, 17, may be mounted on ball bearings. The supply of oxygen to the blowpipe may be controlled as described in Specification 285,960.
