Abstract
311,325. Waggonfabrik Geb. Gastell Ges. May 9, 1928, [Convention date]. Drawing-appliances.-A device for tracing on one surface of a workpiece, such as a wooden plank, a reproduction of a line &c. on the other surface, comprises two arms one carrying a tracing point and the other a pencil &c., the arms being connected together as by a pivot and being adapted to be passed one over each surface of the plank &c. so that the tracing point and the pencil &c. can be moved in unison over the said surfaces. In the form shown the arms 1, 2 are connected by a pivot 3 and are extended beyond the pivot to form handles 4. The arm 1 is provided at its outer end with a member 5 which rests on the workpiece and prevents tilting of the arm, this member carrying supports 9, 10, 11 for a sleeve 8 in which the tracing point 6 is adjustably mounted. The arm 2 carries at its outer end a bush 12 in which is adjustably mounted a sleeve 13 carrying the pencil &c. 7 which can be adjusted within the sleeve by a rod 16. The arrangement is such that the pencil 7 is in line with the tracer 6. The pencil is preferably acted upon by a spring within the sleeve 13 so that it can be withdrawn from engagement with the workpiece to enable the device to be moved to a fresh position. The means for withdrawing the pencil may consist of a finger piece mounted near the handle and acting through a lever or cord and pulley device. Alternatively a spring may be disposed between the handles 4 so that the members 6, 7 move apart when the pressure on the handles is removed. In another form the arms 1, 2 are rigidly connected together and each of the members 6, 7 is resiliently mounted in its support.
