May 2, 1935, No. 13051. Convention date, June 20, 1934. [Classes 69 (ii) and 135] A combined flow control and relief valve for hydraulic transmission systems comprises a throttle valve 6, and a relief valve 12 on the supply side of the throttle valve carried by a piston 8 loaded by a spring 31 and oppositely acted on by the pressures in front of and behind the throttle, so that the pressure behind the throttle is kept constant and proportional to the spring pressure. A loaded relief valve 28 limits the maximum pressure attainable in the system, and a byepass valve 33 is provided.
