Abstract

448,720. Vehicle hoods. AUSTIN, SIR H. A., Lickey Grange, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Feb. 1, 1935, No. 3275. [Class 108 (i)] In vehicle hoods of the kind in which folding members are hinged together and move in a horizontal plane the alternate hinges on each side being permanently connected together by roof bows and the intermediate hinges being adapted to fold inwardly the latter hinges are connected across the roof by bows which are adapted to be disconnected when it is desired to collapse the hood The cantrail members d<1> .. d' are hinged together and to the front bow A and rear hoop stick B on vertical axes so as to fold horizontally inwards. The hinges a<3> at each side are interconnected by a hoop stick F so that these hinges are spaced a constant distance apart. The intermediate hinges are double hinges e, e<1> and hinge plate E. Hoopsticks G are provided with saddles g adapted to embrace the hinges and plates j attached to the cantrail members so as to keep the hinges rigid when the hood is extended. To fold the hoop sticks G are raised to disengage the saddle g from the hinges. The hoops ticks G are linked by links H to the members d<1>, d<3>. When folded back on to the rear hoop stick B the whole may be folded down on to the vehicle body.
