Abstract
444,380. Window fastenings. WADDINGTON, S., Whitkirk Lane End, Halton, near Leeds. Aug. 20, 1935, No. 23335. [Class 44] To allow a casement window to be held in slightly open position by the usual fastener, an auxiliary fitting is provided outside the window, adapted to be moved into position for engagement by the fastener. The fitting may take the form of a tongue hinged to an attachment plate, and directly moved by hand, or, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5 by a push-pull spindle f operable from inside and pivotally connected to lugs e on the tongue a, which is itself pivotally mounted by a pin d on attachment plate b. In a modification, the tongue is carried on a rotatable operating spindle. In use, the window is opened, the tongue moved into place, the window then closed against the tongue and secured by engagement with an ordinary fastener g, as shown in Fig. 8.
