[Class 78 (i)] [See also Group XVIII] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of powdered or granular material comprises a feed hopper q communicating with a channel r terminating in an adjustable outlet p<6> from which the material is fed in a film or layer on to a plate a having a discharge opening a<1> and revolving over a stationary plate c having a larger discharge opening c<1>, the layer of material being collected or heaped up by a scraper device v until the opening a<1> registers with the opening c<1>, thus allowing the discharge of the heaped material by way of a shoot w. The hopper q is mounted on a cover o from which depends a chamber p having a side outlet to the channel r which is defined by walls p<1>, p<2>, p<3> and p<4>. A plate s pivoted at s<1> between the walls p<2>, p<3> and adjustable by a screwed rod t controls the outlet p<6> of the channel rand consequently the thickness of the layer fed to the plate a. The outlet from the chamber p may also be adjustable. The plate a has a peripheral bounding wall b and is mounted on a shaft e rotated through gearing g, h from a shaft j adapted to be connected to a driving pulley through a manually operable clutch. If desired the shaft e may extend into the hopper and carry an agitator device.
