441,004. Welded frame joints for motor vehicles &c. MAGIRUS AKT.-GES., C. D., Ulm-on-the-Danube, and SCHROEDER, K., 9, Seutterweg, Uhn-on-the-Danube, Germany. May 4, 1934, No. 13521. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [See also Group XXXI] Welded frame joints for motor-vehicle chassis &c., comprise longitudinal and transverse channel or like open section members arranged with the transverse members on the inner or outer side of a flange of the longitudinal members and joined by means of pairs of separate or integrally connected transverse constraining members, to support the transverse frame members with respect to the other flange of the longitudinal frame members. As shown in Fig. 1, the transverse member 2 is directly welded to the outer side of the flange 6 of the longitudinal member 1 and is connected to the flange 5 by plates 3, 4, which are welded to both flanges 5, 6, and also to the transverse member. The plates 3, 4 may be inclined so that they embrace at the flange 5 a length thereof which is greater than the width of the member 2. In Fig. 2, the transverse member 8 is welded to the inner side of the flange 11 of the longitudinal member 10 and its flanges are welded to the body 14 of a trapezoidal member 13 which is also welded to the inner side of the flange 12.
