428,494. Sliding-bolts. HOPE & SONS, Ltd., H., and WILSON, T. R., Halford Works, Smethwick, Staffordshire. March 24, 1934, No. 9340. [Class 44] A sliding-bolt fastening for doors or windows has a spring friction device engaging a flat surface to prevent accidental movement of the bolt and entering a shouldered recess positively to prevent retraction of the bolt beyond a certain position. A channelled bolt c slidably held on a base plate a by bridge members b is engaged by a leaf spring e secured to the base plate a and the end of this spring enters a shouldered recess f in the channel to limit the normal inward movement. To permit complete removal of the bolt a tool is inserted through an aperture l to displace the spring from the recess f. The spring may be fixed on the bolt and engage a recess in the base plate. A spring plunger g may be used as the friction-device, the plunger engaging a shouldered recess k to act as a limit stop, Fig. 7.
