[Class 7 (iii)] To prevent fuel reaching the cylinder walls a wide-mouthed shallow combustion chamber provided with an incurved peripheral wall 5 is formed in the piston 4. The chamber comprises two conical surfaces 5, 6, which are united by a smooth curve 7, the piston crown being composed of a separate refractory member secured to the piston by a nut 8.
