Abstract

421,430. Convertible chairs. DUCROT, A., 5, Rue des Colonnes du Trone, Paris. March 17, 1934, No. 8466. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1933. [Class 52 (ii)] An arm-chair convertible into a reclining chair comprises a fixed frame, and three interconnected members 5, 6, 7, the inter. mediate member 6 forming the seat when the chair is extended but being housed behind the back member 5 when the front or extension member 7 is pushed in, the latter then forming the seat of the chair. The rear part of the intermediate member 6 is supported by rollers 14, running in guide rails 15 curving upwardly towards the rear, while the front part is supported by rollers 16 running in rails 17 sloping slightly downward to the rear. The back 5 is pivoted at 8, and its lower end is connected to the rear part of the member 6 by pivoted links 9. The front member 7 is connected to the member 6 by arms 18 pivoted about the axes of the rollers 16, and is supported at its front when in closed position by a cross member 2<a> of the frame.
