[Class 52 (ii).] In a folding bed-settee consisting of three members 4, 5, 6 pivoted together and movably mounted in a fixed framework 1, the head member 4 is connected to the intermediate member 5 through a pair of arms 7 whereby in the folded position the end of the member 5 is engaged under the head member 4. The framework 1 carries slides 40, 41, which engage grooved rollers 42 mounted on the head member 4, and the upper end of the latter is connected to the framework 1 through an arm 21 pivoted thereto. A curved back rest 17 is connected to the head member 4, through a pivot 16 at the top, and by an arm 32 engaged in a slot 34. The end member 6 has a member 11 mounted perpendicular thereto, which forms a seat. When the seat 11 is pulled forward a series of links connected between the members 6 and pivot 42 pulls the latter forward advancing the rollers 42 to the front end of the rails, whereby members 4, 5, 6 which are preferably spring upholstered form a horizontal surface. The back rest 17 is then raised by hand. A foot support 30 is attached to the intermediate mechanism, and is automatically raised thereby. The foot members are prevented from bearing on the carpet &c. during opening by two curved supports 38. A seat cushion which may be used as a pillow and a mattress overlay are provided, the upper end of the latter being housed in the space between members 4 and 17 in the folded position.
