Abstract
419,255. Yielding gear-wheels. COMPAGNIA NAZIONALE AERONAUTICA, 23, Via Sistina, Rome. April 23, 1934, No. 12224. Convention date, April 22, 1933. [Class 80 (ii).] An internally or externally toothed wheel rim 1 is yieldingly connected to a shaft or to a stationary support, by helical springs 4, having turns of different diameters, and arranged between axial bolts 3 on one element, for instance the stationary support, and axial bores 2 in the rim. The springs, which may be of barrel or hour-glass form, are initially compressed axially, by means of the bolts 3, so that their abutting flat coils produce a frictional damping effect. The material of different springs may be of different thickness to avoid harmonic oscillations. The stationary wheel is used in the epicyclic reduction-gear of an aircraft engine.
