Abstract

419,133. Feeding webs. JAGENBERGWERKE AKT.-GES., 107, Himmelgeisterstrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany. Aug. 10, 1934, No. 23158. Convention date, April 5. Addition to 417,769. [Class 100 (i).] The machine for winding paper, cardboard, or like webs described in the parent Specification is modified in that one supporting-roller is mounted for free rotation, preferably in roller bearings, and the other supporting-roller is driven and provided with an elastic coating such as rubber. As shown, each supporting- roller 1, 2 is composed of a hard metal core k and an elastic rubber coating m. The roll 9 to be wound is pressed on the rollers 1, 2 by a roller 11 mounted on a pivoted lever 10. The web 12 unwinds from a reel 13 provided with an adjustable brake 17, passes around a guideroller 14, between slitting-rollers 15, 16, and between the rollers 1, 2 and roll 9. The roller 1 is mounted for free rotation, preferably in roller bearings, and the roller 2 is driven. In a modification, the web is guided by rollers to a point above the roll to be wound, between slitting-rollers, and then around the lower slitting-roller, which acts also as the pressure roller, to the roll to be wound. The first supporting-roller to contact the slit and wound web has a hard smooth surface, and is freely rotatable in roller bearings ; the other supporting-roller is mounted in roller bearings, is driven by a belt and pulley, and has a hard metal core surrounded by a rubber cover. The edges of the slit web will be pressed down and smoothed by the first supporting-roller, so that the rubber coating of the second roller will not be damaged.
