Abstract

418,897. Electric - lamp holders. RODWELL, D. E., 4, Half Moon Street, Piccadilly, London. April 26, 1933, No. 12173. [Class 39 (ii).] An incandescent lamp is locked in position on its holder by a collar or ring 1 which has two or four resilient lugs 2, 4 gripping the holder 3 ; two of these lugs have slots 2<a> corresponding with the vertical parts 5<a> of the bayonet slots 5 in the holder, so that the projecting pins 6 on the lamp cap-when inserted in the slots 5-also enter the slots 2<a>, the final movement of the pins causing rotation of the collar 1 on the holder 3. Inside the holder is fastened a leaf spring 8 whose inturned end acts as a locking catch for the lamp and collar by entering the vertical part 5a of the bayonet slot, when the collar receives the above described movement. To release the latch a key is inserted into the collar through a slot 11, the key lying against the lamp bulb when in use. The catch rests on the holder when not in use and to prevent excessive entry into the bayonet slot of the latch its end is formed with an abutment 8<b> which engages the adjacent lug 2. In a modification, the key instead of pivoting on the edge of the slot 11 through which it is inserted, engages a downwardly projecting peg carried inside the collar, the key pivoting around an axis approximately parallel to the lamp axis.
