Abstract

413,802. Frictional epicyclic gears. DELL, C., 25, Swing Gate Lane, Berkhampsted, Hertfordshire, and READ, H. L., Netherton, Herington Grove, Hutton Mount, Essex. March 7, 1933, No. 6891. [Class 80 (i).] A frictional epicyclic gear comprises a sun 13 on the driving shaft, an annulus 1 in the casing 2, and a planet carrier 14 on the driven shaft with rollers 15. The planet and sun are positively locked and adjusted by axial movement relative to the annulus by means of the threaded rings 18 and 19. The planet carrier 14 has radial slots 21 to take the planet axles 20 and narrower and deeper slots between these axle slots to render it slightly resilient. The rollers 15 may be frustro-conical or curved so that the sun and planet system are mutually interlocked when assembled.
