Abstract

968,289. Change speed gear; clutches; securing relatively rotatable parts. SHARP'S COMMERCIALS Ltd. March 8, 1963 [April 26, 1962], No. 15868/62. Headings F2C, F2D and F2U. A change speed gear comprises a driving member 12 and a driven member 39 coupled by a pair of different ratio trains having constant rotation with one member and selectively coupled with the other member. The trains are preferably two chains 42, 43 driven from a double dog clutch member 30, splined to an engine shaft 12, engageable with either of two different diameter sprockets 26, 27 ; the chains driving a double sprocket 40, 41 on the body of a conventional clutch 39 on the input shaft of a change speed gear 38. In the de-clutched condition, the sprockets are free to run on bushes 19, 20 splined to a sleeve 17 keyed to the engine shaft.
