Abstract
413,429. Supply systems. SILVERS, C. O., Keepers Cottage, Showell Lane, Penn, Staffordshire. March 13, 1933, No. 7490. [Class 38 (iv).] Selecting sources in service.-In a lighting system for trolley buses and like vehicles a motor generator set, fed from the supply, supplies low voltage current to a main and a subsidiary lighting circuit and is combined with a battery and an automatic switch which separates the battery and subsidiary lighting system from the generator when the latter is not in action. As shown, a motor d drives a low voltage generator e through an insulating coupling. So long as the generator e is in operation the switch f is closed and the generator supplies the main lighting system a, the subsidiary lighting system b and the battery c. When the generator e stops, the switch f opens and the battery supplies the subsidiary system b which includes the head and tail lamps &c. and accessory apparatus such as horns, screenwipers &c. It is stated that the motor and generator may be combined in one and the same machine.
