Abstract
412,369. Latches. AGTERBERG, G. A., 137, Amstel, Amsterdam. April 10, 1933, No. 10657. [Class 44.] A spring-pressed pivoted latch 27, retractable by a push-and-pull spindle 13, carries at its outer end a tooth 34 capable of limited pivotal movement about a pin 35 on the latch, and adapted to engage the striking plate 31. The spindle 13 is cut away to provide an inclined surface 21 co-operating with a roller 22 on a rod 23, so that when the knob 14 is pushed in or the knob 15 is pulled out against a spring 18, the rod 23 is moved transversely of the spindle to retract the latch 27 by engagement with a shoulder 33 thereon. Guide rollers 25 and 26 are provided for the spindle 13 and rod 23 respectively. When the door 11 carrying the latch is closed, the latch 27 and tooth 34 remain in the relative positions shown and pivot as a whole about the pin 28. When the door is opened by movement of the spindle 13, the tooth pivots in an anticlockwise direction as far as is permitted by shoulders 37 thereon engaging with the surface of the latch.
