Abstract

412,344. End-stop gears. STEAD, E. B., 381, City Road, and CLARKE, W., Eastcliffe, East Bank Road, both in Sheffield. Feb. 28, 1933, No. 5999. [Class 78 (v).] In control apparatus for winding engines of the type in which it is customary to reverse the engine towards the end of each wind, and in which the overwinding prevention means includes a shaft rotated through gearing by the engine so as to turn through less than one revolution for each complete travel of the cage, a lever (not shown) controlling the supply of energy to the engine is keyed to a shaft 23 and is coupled for each direction of cage travel to links 10 mounted between cams 5, 6 on the over-winder shaft 3 and cams 8, 9 movable into and out of position by the reversing mechanism, either link when engaged by both cams 5, 8 or 6, 9 locking, or retarding the operation of, the control lever and releasing the lever when either cam is disengaged. The links 10 are connected by rods 28, 29 to a rocking lever 26 which is connected by a rod 25 through a lost-motion device to an arm 24 on the shaft 23.
