Abstract
411,633. Pipe joints. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., Bush House, Kingsway, London.- (Compagnie des Surchauffeurs ; 3, Rue la B÷etie, Paris.) March 27, 1933, No. 9203. Addition to 338,462, [Class 99 (i)]. [Class 99 (i).] In the joint between a pipe and header described in the parent Specification the end of the pipe 1 beyond the annular abutment 9 is staved-up for a part of its length to a thickness equal to or slightly greater than the normal thickness of the pipe and terminates in a spherical jointing surface 10. The latter is concentric with the spherical surface on the abutment 9, but is of a radius approximately the same as or slightly greater than the external radius of the pipe, that is, less than that of the said surface 9. The surface 10 may be continued to meet the bore of the pipe in a knifeedge ; preferably however the extreme end of the pipe is of substantial thickness to provide an annular surface 12 normal to the pipe axis.
