Abstract

416,523. Pipe joints. HERZMARK, N., 44, Rue Vitruve, Paris. Nov. 20, 1933, No. 15713. [Class 99 (i).] In pipe joints of the kind in which the flared end d<1> of a pipe is compressed on the slightly tapered end c of a coupling member b by a nut f, the internally tapered part g of the nut is tapered at a smaller angle than the cone c and engages with the pipe only at a part below its maximum diameter. In the case of a hard metal pipe a ring i of soft metal is interposed or the cone c may be coated with a layer of soft metal, or the burr on the pipe end formed by a pipe cutter may be shaped to a narrow internal flange. When two pipes are connected by a double conical coupling member a, Fig. 11, the joint may be locked by a sleeve n shaped to fit the hexagonal faces of the nuts h and the coupling member, the sleeve having an anchoring tail-piece n<1>.
