Abstract

400,079. Pipe joints. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. and SMITH, F. H., Babcock House, Farringdon Street, London. March 15, 1933, No. 7901. [Class 99 (i).] In a butt-welded joint of the kind which is reinforced by bolted flanges 4, 5, the weld metal 3 extends the full depth or the major part of the depth of the pipe ends which are of the same internal diameter as the bore of the pipes. The pipe ends may be upset to form shoulders for loose flanges and bevelled to form a V-shaped recess for weld metal. A spigot-and-socket joint 13 may be provided.
