Abstract

Wheel rims and other articles subject to wear are made from eutectoid steels containing double carbide formers such as manganese, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, or vanadium, less than 0.9 per cent of carbon, and preferably 0.35-0.8 per cent of silicon, and containing also up to 7 per cent of nickel, or up to 1.5 per cent of copper, or both. The steels containing copper may be reheated at 450-550 DEG C. for 4-8 hours.
