Abstract

Alloys containing at least 50 per cent of iron, 0.1-30 of aluminium and 0.3-40 of nickel with or without the further addition of one or more of the elements vanadium and cobalt each 0.1-20, titanium and zirconium each 0.1-12, carbon and/or phosphorus each 0.03-2 and silicon 0.1-3 and in which the iron is present predominantly in the \su state are heat treated by cooling quickly from 700-1350 DEG C. and reheating to 320-500 DEG C. The alloys may also contain 0.5-30 per cent, singly or together, of chromium and manganese. Examples of particular alloys are referred to. Specification 336,948, ([Class 72], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to a similar treatment for iron-aluminium alloys and also states that the alloys may contain beryllium, molybdenum, tungsten and uranium. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
