Abstract

403,782. Tramway &c. vehicle undercarriages. HALL, W. E., 83, Middleton Place, Loughborough. Oct. 4, 1932, No. 27501. [Class 103 (vi).] A suspension for the underframe of a tramway or like vehicle adapted to constrain the swivelling movements of the trucks comprises brackets 1 depending from the underframe near each of the four corners of the truck frames, spring posts 2 each having at its lower end a ball or cone head 3 working in a cup-shaped recess in the bracket 1 and at its upper end a ball or cone 5 working in a recess in a plunger 6, and two helical springs 8, 9 located between each plunger 6 and the base of the cylindrical portion of a casting 7, which is mounted on the truck frame and in which the plunger 6 slides. At the upper end of the spring post 2 is fitted an adjusting-nut 4, between which and the member 5 is preferably interposed a rubber cushion 10.
