Abstract

396,965. Tilting-pad bearings. AKTIEBOLAGET NOMY, 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm. Feb. 13, 1932, No. 30543. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1931. Divided on 396,808 and addition to 378,713. [Class 12 (i).] In a tilting-pad bearing of the kind claimed in the parent Specification, the members preventing undesired peripheral displacement of the pads 2 comprise annular discs 22, rings or the like, located in grooves 23 in the interior of the pads 2, the said discs 22 also preventing unintentional removal of the pads from the supporting member 3. The rings 22 may be split or resilient. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, each disc 22 has projections 24 holding a pair of blocks diametrically arranged. The outer discs 25 are conical and resilient so that they can be snapped into position. The pads 2 which have ribs 16 entering grooves 17 in the carrier ring 3 are supported on the latter so that they operate in the manner described in Specification 290,637, [Class 12 (i), Bearings &c.]. In a modification the groove 23, Fig. 15, for the discs 22, the projections 7 on the carrier ring 3 for rotating the pads, and the ribs 16 are arranged side by side. The side faces 31, 32 of the groove 30 for the ribs 16 are at different inclinations. In another modification, the discs 22, Fig. 11, surround ribs 11 formed on the carrier ring 3 and engaging grooves 13 in the pads 2. A further modification has all the discs 22 plane, two discs being employed to connect a pair of diametrically arranged pads. In the construction shown in Fig. 22, grooves 33 are formed completely around the carrier ring 3 on each side of the projections 18. The grooves for the pad ribs are formed between the latter. The discs 22 (not shown) are located between webs 35 and have recesses in the inner edges to permit them to pass over the webs 35 when mounting the parts.
