Abstract

1347243 Disc brakes GIRLING Ltd 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 11905/70 Addition to 1136426 Heading F2E In a disc brake as in Specification 1,136,426 the rotor 3 extends obliquely to the axis of rotation. In the embodiment shown the outer surfaces of the rotor 3, which is the web of a rail wheel, are frusto-conical and the inner surfaces of rings 10, 11 are complementarily shaped. The rings may be chamfered at the margins 10A, 11A. In an alternative construction, Fig. 2 (not shown) a pair of axially offset, radially spaced annular bearing surfaces (3A), (3B) are provided on web 3, between which each ring is spaced from the web. Ventilation passages and cooling ribs may be provided.
