Abstract
391,340. Microphones. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London.-(Assignees of Olson, H. F. ; 153, East 24th Street, New York, U.S.A.) July 13, 1932, No. 19859. Convention date, July 13, 1931. [Class 40 (iv).] A microphone of the type having a moving ribbon conductor 15, Fig. 2, located between the polepieces 16 of an electromagnet has a combined metal and fabric casing 19, Fig. 1, preferably comprising a perforated outer casing 20, Fig. 7, and a fabric lining 21 held in position by a wire gauze 22. The casing may be square or may be enclosed in an outer perforated 'casing. Preferably the amplifier is mounted immediately above the microphone. The directional properties of the microphone may be utilized by mounting it for rotation, Fig. 3 (not shown). The casing acts as a wind shield and as an electrostatic and electromagnetic shield.
