Abstract

1296441 Knitting machines K FREI 23 Jan 1970 [23 Jan 1969 17 Sept 1969 7 Nov 1969] 3426/70 Heading D1C A control or warning device for a textile machine comprises yarn guide means 46 which guide the yarn in a straight line to and along a path and may be deflected by excessive tension and feeler means 78 engage the thread in this path and are pivoted about an axis 70 on or displaced from the straight line by a distance subtending a maximum angle of less than 30‹ at the path the feeler means actuating a switch when turned through a predetermned angle. The apparatus 10 comprises a housing 12 of red transparent or. translucent synthetic material which has threaded in its front wall a screw 29 through which passes a journal (26) Fig. 2 (not shown) with a member 30 at its inner end which is biassed by an eccentrically attached adjustable spring 34. Three guide arms 42 attached to the outer end of journal 26 have hooks 44 carrying the assymmetrical U-shaped ceramic members 46 biassed so that both of their ends engage a sloping wall 100 of the housing. The thread passes round members 46 at 80 in directions A, C. When tension in the thread becomes too high, members 46 are pulled down against spring 34, and, as the arrangement forms an over centre linkage, the members 42 will move down against a gradually diminishing force until they are pulled clockwise by spring 34, and members 46 disengage the thread. Between members 46 are arranged feeler arms 78 carried on members 74 carried on a journal 70. Their ends 79 engaging wall 100. Portion 74 may have an extension carrying a slidable weight to bias the arms 78 to turn anti-clockwise, Fig. 1. When the thread breaks or is pulled down by increased tension, portion 78 moves in the direction of arrow B. Pairs of contacts 92, 94 and 92a, 94a mounted on springs 98 carried on members 96 secured to wall 100 are actuated respectively by cam discs 72, 30 carried on journals 70, 26. The contacts actual a lamp 86 and a stop motion. A layer of clamping material is provided on wall 100 to soften the impact of members 46 and 79. In a modification the dead centre position of arms 42 can be adjusted.
