Abstract
383,406. Tyre chains. KENNEDY, D. S., Harewood Forest Works, Longparish, Hampshire. Nov. 9, 1931, No. 31017. [Class 144 (ii).] In an over-all chain for tyres, comprising cross-members each formed by two or more shoes a, a<1> with hinged side-portions d, the latter are prevented from opening outwardly beyond alignment with the shoes a .. by the abutment of end faces d<4>, b' formed on these parts. The shoes a, a<1> are preferably of channel section and spaced by distance-pieces which may be separate sleeves on the hingebolts e or, as shown in Fig. 2, may be formed on the side-portions d. Spring-couplings, such as h, Fig: 7, may be fitted in the side-chains f for taking-up slack. Specification 367,249 is referred to.
