Abstract

377,065. Fuel-injection pumps. L'ORANGE, P., 91, Robert Boschstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Nov. 20, 1931, No. 32204. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1930. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump of the type in which the plunger b, Fig. 1, is rotated by the governor by means of a lever k in order to vary the timing of the termination of injection, lost movement between the plunger and the governor transmitting-mechanism -is avoided by subjecting the plunger to a turning movement opposed'to the action of the governor. The inlet to the pump chamber takes place through a passage in the plunger controlled by a valve c and the injection is terminated when a passage g in the plunger passes the inclined edge h of a recess i in the cylinder. The passage g may be made tangential in order that the fluid flow may exert a turning moment on the plunger, or, alternatively, a torsion spring may be arranged between the plunger and the operating tappet o. Where the levers k<1> .. k<4>, Fig. 6, of several pumps are simultaneously operated, the turning moment preferably moves the plungers in the direction of light load and the governor rod n in the direction of full load, so that, if one plunger seizes, movement of the other plungers to light load position is not impeded.
