Abstract

377,008. Impact pulverizers. CRAGO, C. H., Glencona, Wakeford Road, Strathfield, near Sydney, Australia. Sept. 14, 1931, No. 25714. [Class 59.] In a mill for grinding cereals &c. comprising beater blades fixed to spaced discs, the blades 22, 23 are inserted in notches in the peripheries of the discs 21 and are secured therein by bolts or rivets 38 passed through their butts and through cheek rings 36 which are fixed on the disc sides. The blade tips are alternately straight and bent, the bent blades alternately project on opposite sides of the disc. The straight and bent blades may be stamped from a single sheet of metal or may comprise individual strips. The casing 3 may be provided with a removable corrugated lining, the corrugations being deeper in the direction of rotation of the discs. The material is fed into the mill through a pipe 4 and is discharged through removable screens 7 into a casing 2 from which it is removed by a conveyer 12. The driving shaft may be fitted with a propeller which supplies air to vents 15, Fig. 2, controlled by slides 16 in the end covers 1, 2, hoods 17 being placed around the vents to direct the air inwardly to the vents.
