Impact pulverizers; casings with internal revolving cutters. - A mill for reducing grain and other friable substances comprises a drum-like casing with an internal serrated face at its upper peripheral portion and removable wire-gauze screens at its lower peripheral portion, the grain &c. being introduced through a tangential feedneck and reduced by a number of saw toothed discs carried by a rotary horizontal shaft which extends axially through the drum. Beater-arms may be provided on the shaft intermediate the toothed discs. The upper part V of the casing, in the form of a semi-cylindrical drum, is secured to the lower part by bolts N, and the part T which encloses the lower part of the casing is apertured on one side and provided with a door G while the other apertured side H has a hood J fixed over it. The screen panels L are fixed on frame L<1> which step on to lugs M and fit into rebates in the sides and are secured by screws m. The upper half of the casing is fitted with removable serrated plates o, the serrations of which are directed tangentially, and the casing ends are radially fluted or angularly corrugated on their interior faces. The disc blades Q are toothed peripherally like a coarse circular saw with the teeth intermediate each pair of set teeth left straight, and beater-arms S are provided between the discs. The reduced grain passes through the screws L into a pit or bin K. Free egress for the air blast produced by the discs and beaters is provided by the offset hood J.
