Abstract
371,906. Cutting coal, rock, &c. JONES, G. T., 16, Stuart Street, Pontyclun, Glamorgan, and KEMP, W., Heathly, Rhiwbina, Cardiff. Feb. 2, 1931, No. 37044/30. [Class 68 (i).] In a machine for cutting coal, rock, &c. in which a motor and cutters driven thereby are carried at the end of a supporting arm, two series of cutters are provided, one on each side of the motor, cutters of one series being spaced radially from adjacent cutters of the other series to permit passage of the supporting arm between them. The casing of the motor M is integral with a member P secured to the supporting arm T by flanges A and bolts, one of the flanges carrying a plate D for deflecting cuttings. Two circular saws C are mounted one on each end of the motor shaft, each saw comprising two discs and an annulas riveted together and providing three circumferential rows of teeth of varying diameter to provide passage for a bent portion of the member P while permitting the cuts formed by the two saws to merge or overlap. The motor may be electric or fluid pressure, energy being supplied thereto through the arm T.
