Abstract

369,800. Friction clutches. REED, H. V., 6558, South Menard Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. June 1, 1931, No. 15971. [Class 80 (ii).] A resilient plate for a friction clutch comprises a disc 5 having on one side a facing 7 rigidly secured, as by rivets 8, and on the other side a friction ring 11 secured, as by rivets 12, to the tips of tapering tongues 9 struck up from the disc within its periphery. The diverging slits 10 at the sides of the tongues are relatively wide to allow freedom of movement. As all the tongues are similarly directed,. the ring 11 can shift bodily in a circumferential direction under pressure without straining the rivets.
