Abstract

1,272,453. Diaphragm spring; friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 27 July, 1970 [4 Aug., 1969], No. 38957/69. Headings F2C and F2S. A diaphragm spring for a plate type friction clutch consists of an annular disc 10 having radial slots with enlarged radially outer ends. The ends 16 of some, 12, of the slots are required to be smaller and nearer the centre of the disc than the ends 15 of the others, 11. The slots 12 alternate with the slots 11 round the disc. The periphery of the disc bears on a pressure plate of the clutch, the inner ends of the fingers defined by the slots co-operate with a release bearing, and the intermediate annular region engages a support to which the spring is secured by, e.g., a bolt or rivet passed through the ends 15 of the slots 11.
