363,811. Hydraulic suspension systems. ADAMSON, J. W., Mount Pleasant, Northallerton, Yorkshire. Dec. 11, 1930, No. 37416. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii).] In a hydraulic resilient suspension for motor &c. vehicles each road wheel is attached to the rod c of a piston b working on a cylinder a secured to the vehicle frame, one end a<1> or both ends a<1>, a2 of the cylinders a being connected respectively, by pipes e, r to one end f of a common cylinder g or to the ends of a pair of common cylinders g, s, each provided with a spring-opposed piston h or t, so that shocks causing vertical movement of any wheel displace liquid in the cylinder associated with that wheel and are absorbed by an adjustable spring j or u, or other resilient device or if greater than the capacity of the spring are distributed equally among all the wheel cylinders. Different loads on the several points of suspension may be connected by springs co-operating with the pistons b or by providing springs between the wheels and chassis where required.
